I think this is a brilliant idea but the only down side i can see is you have to be really careful on who is sending the messages this would have to be monitored carefully.
I can see this being a good thing as it would give some children a bit of happiness and let them know that someone really does care as alot of children have know body especially when disasters happen like haiti where their family may have been killed
